Last June, one of my two cats was diagnosed
with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF). Pooh is a loving, wonderful, amazing cat.
A kissing, hugging creature who enjoys putting his paws around my neck, snuggling
under my chin, he lives on love. Such a joy to live with, so comforting.
Pooh looks directly at you with the largest, most soulful eyes I've ever
seen. He's smart, handsome, generous, compassionate. Examples of his
sweetness:
When a cat at the end of his life was failing.
Pooh
stayed with Mir, gave his friend the bed (Pooh's
territory). When I cried, Pooh patted my cheek and licked the tears away.
The day I adopted Kami, a young, frightened Maine coon cat, Pooh went up
to the carrier and gave Kami a nose kiss to say he was welcome and there
was no reason to be anxious.
Pooh requires ongoing treatment (supplies for frequent administration
at home of subcutaneous fluids, vitamins, a
prescription diet) and regular veterinarian monitoring of his health
(examinations and labwork). Pooh has given me so much for more than 10 years.
Now, in his time of need, he deserves the best care I can manage to give
him.
Though it's expensive and emotionally wearing.
there is no real
choice for
me except to give Pooh good quality of life with the care he needs, rather
than watch him be poisoned by his poorly functioning kidneys, and die. However,
I can't afford the entire cost.
We received a small grant from Cats In Crisis
that will cover a month of care. Thanks to this 501 C-3 charitable organization,
Pooh can get additional financial assistance. Please tell your family, friends,
